North Seymour

A low and flat island located slightly to the north of Baltra. It was formed as a result of the uplift of a submarine lava formation. The whole island is covered with low, bushy vegetation. 

Galapagos largest colony of magnificent frigate birds is found here, as well as a large population of blue-footed boobies when nesting conditions are right. Despite the tremendous surf that can pound the outer shore, sea lions haul themselves out onto the beach and can be found together with marine iguanas. You can also find swallow-tailed gulls and the occasional Galapagos snake.

The visitor trail on North Seymour is approximately 2 km in length, crossing the inland of the island and exploring the rocky coast and passes. Along the trail colonies of Blue-Footed Boobies and Magnificent Frigatebirds.
